I will! I have to admit I'm in a bit of a budget crunch right now as me and the missus may have taken a wee bit of a break but my plans definitely haven't changed!

 

After several months of house projects, and buying a rotary table and chuck for the mill, I was finally able to machine the first hat for the front brakes. I all fits. I need to procure final hardware before I can get the brakes on the car.
Winter is here, so it may be slow going....

 

That is absolutely fantastic!!!! Congratulations! What rotors and calipers did you end up using? Dis they just require drilling for the studs or more? Creating a special bracket foe the calipers?

 

I used Coleman Racing rotors, 330 x 32. The calipers are the coveted Jaguar Brembos off of the 2001 to 2003 Silvertone XK8s. They have the same mounting pattern spacing as the X-type and are a direct fit for 330 rotors.
Back when I tried to use Volvo rotors, the rotor offset caused the calipers to hit the inside of the wheel. That is why I had to go with 2-piece rotors and machine my own rotor hats. Presently, I am using washers to space the caliper to the center of the rotor. When I do the final installation I will replace the washers with a fixed height spacer.

Note that these calipers are really really hard to find. I originally read on one of the x-type brake upgrade threads that these calipers were a direct fit. I picked up the red one you see in the pictures from Rock Auto almost 2 years ago. I tried purchasing its mate and there were none available. I had one on backorder for over a year until they cancelled my order stating they are no longer available. A beat up used pair showed up on Flea-bay about a year ago. I purchased them (at a premium price ) and I rebuilt and painted them. - Shown in earlier images in this thread.. I keep looking for more of these calipers and have not found a source. Perhaps a Jaguar dealer somewhere has some in stock.

Nope. Looks like stock front X-type calipers. Look for Brembo XKR Silverstone calipers.

Does this perhaps mean (as stated in article), there may be another avenue to obtain these calipers by looking for Porsche Turbo?

Any caliper can fit on any car if they fit the rotor, (Diameter, width and offset you need) and you make a mounting adapter that can mount to the spindle/hub carrier. Majority of the time you don't want to increase the piston area more the 15% over stock. You can run into problems with the master cylinder and/or ABS module. Plus you need to balance the front rear caliper bias. There are lots of brake calculation websites.
Jaguar STR rears use 15mm wide solid rotors. The Silversone rear rotors are 18.5mm wide. If you migrate to vented rear rotors, then you will need calipers that fit perhaps 24 or 28 wide rotors.

In the front, if you go with larger diameter rotors, this will provide more leverage for the calipers and you can actually get too much front stopping power and be too front brake biased.

Lots of work, lots of time, lots of money to do it right...
