Default Bullitt tribute Mustang

The Bullitt tribute Mustang might actually be more of a tribute to the F-type styling. Maybe it's early, and it's just me.

Not another one of these.... The mustang looks like an F type now? I swear, everything with 2 doors and 4 wheels looks like an F type on this forum....

I think maybe its just too early in CA. But they both have two doors and four wheels, hard to deny that, I think the difference is that the F-Type is good looking and the Mustang isn't. The front aspect of the F is just gorgeous, the proportions, the angles, the lowness. The front of the Mustang looks like an elephant squished it.

Now the real comparison to my eye is with the Camaro where I think the high haunches, high waist line, flat hood/bonnet, the boxy vert top all look like they were designed in Coventry.

It's not. They benchmarked non-Jags for that model as well as the 500.

As for the resemblance to a Mustang Bullit. There is some, and lets face it the 2 cars have similar design Ideas. 2 seat (practically) 2 doors, long nose, short tail, aggressive purposeful intent. The Jag a little bit more "Luxury" the Mustang a little more "In Your Face". Both are very High end performers. And set, side by side the resemblance is there, as they have similar dimensions and the same destination in mind, just a little different approach on how to get there!

I think the F-Type is a tribute to the original 1968 Bullitt Mustang! Just look at the rear haunches and roof line of the '68 and tell me that Jag didn't copy that design feature! Also look at the "puckered" area at the rear of the doors leading into the rear quarter panels...outright plagiarism by Jag designers!

This is a funny call out. You're right... I'm not trying hard enough... I think this happens to me a lot, where I am like "ooh two door drop top" LOL

But I was intimating it looks far less like the classic Bullitt car, vs having the modern stylings that so many newer 2 doors have.

But fair comment. =)

As it happens, yesterday I was parked at work, and someone parked in a Camaro completely incorrectly. Always reverse park! LOL I think it's also called "tactical parking", but that's how I roll. Anyhoo... I got a few shots of the cars next to each other. I could have done better, but very similar in some ways, for sure.....

nb: I am not saying the Camaro is comparable, and it's definitely not pretty (and such a departure from the old Camaros)... but I guess when you start designing 2 door sports cars, there's not much differentiation at a certain point. It's like they took a block of cheddar cheese and tried to style it. LOL

Will not comment about looks but the Jaguar will never have a 16 speed transmission as the orig. car in the movie. if you are not sure what I am talking about--listen to the movie and do not watch--At least 16 speed--possibly more. Sort of like those 20 shot revolvers in some movies.

If you want some really sweet production values, just have a look at this little gem from 1976 no less. Drove a Merc 450 SEL camera-car and over-dubbed with a Ferrari 275 song. "The Rendezvous"

Why not? My FJ40 has 16 forward speeds and 4 reverse. (4 speed tranny, 2 speed transfer case, and 2 speed splitter) Very well suited for the AWD models

I had a Mustang Vert as a loaner yesterday and I thought it was very pretty, but when it came to driving it I though it was poop. Very crude and rough compared to the F. It felt like an unfinished economy car. I thought this is why the F costs twice as much and is worth it.
