Hey Jay, please add Steve Glossi (Z, Allen and I both know him well). He is 95% confident that he is in. Thanks!

You just did! Steve’s in.

P.S. I’ll take a head count at a later date as well as getting everyone’s size for the official 2018 Jaguar Wild Blueberry Blast T-shirt.

Default Quick Update

I’m waiting to hear back from the GM of a local hotel (Marriott Sable Oaks) for a group rate - it’s not The Press Hotel and it’s a 10-15 min drive from South Portland to the Old Port (where we stage) - and when I do I will let you know. Should be soon if not later tonight.

Most of the “other” pieces of the puzzle (or should I say pie? Whoopie Pie) are coming into place as I’ve confirmed with many - albeit not all - of the places and people we will meet.

All I can say is it should prove to be memorable. Presumably great weather - the weather Gods have smiled down upon us two years running - fabulous scenery, amazing food, a couple of spirited drives, a few surprises, and a chance to mingle with fellow Forum members. What more can you ask for? (Hold the sarcasm please).

As of now I have 11 “confirmed” F-Types coming - and the event is open only to F-Types - and I should be able to manage as many as 20*.

A reminder that the event will take place August 2, 3, 4, 5, 2018.

*It’s not the number of cars I can’t handle - I can manage lots more - but the number of people in those cars which potentially pose a problem.

Default Hyatt Place Portland Old Port

Is owned, principally, by my landlord and friend for 15 years and he had me reach out to his GM two days ago. And, now, he’s gotten back to me.

Their usual rate is $464 per night but he is willing to provide a group rate of $249 per night. Parking, for hotel guests, is $20 to self park and $25 for valet. Based on everything I know, no one need worry about the safety of their cars.

The hotel is conveniently located in the Old Port and for $249 per night, I think (I know) I would grab that.

I’ve asked the GM to hold 5 maybe 10 rooms and that I would get back to him soon.

At this point, and with the demand at this time in August...., this make a lot of sense. Can those of us with excessive Marriot Points, apply them as well to ease the cost? If not, either way we are good with this on the Joe and Maria front.

Parking....I assume is as safe as it was at the Park....or you wouldn't be referencing this place at all.

I say you get it.....3-4 nights isn't going to break the bank by any stretch of the imagination......

Others?

I think Joe and Alan are confused. Jay's last post referenced Hyatt Place Portland Old Port. I was confused too until I saw that bit in the subject line of the post. Those subject lines do not appear on the mobile app.

My preference is simply to stay where most of the guests will be. So if the majority turns out to be fine with this Hyatt location, I say go for it, Jay.

I am getting a link for all those interested, and will post it here - no need to call the hotel - once I get it.

[re] Parking: It’s $20 a day for self-parking and $25 for valet. The parking garage is locked from 10:00 PM until 7:00 AM and is located directly next to the hotel. Portland PD, for what it’s worth, is constantly montoring all of the Old Port so I wouldn’t worry. About anything!

By the way, the cut off date for holding this block of rooms is July 3.

I used my Marriott points to tentatively book at the Marriott Sable Oaks prior to seeing the Hyatt update. Joe can't use Marriott points at a Hyatt as far as I can tell regarding your question.

That said Jay let us know if you hear back from the Marriott GM.

Just for the heck of it, I went to the Hyatt Portland Place Old Port website and punched in our dates and came up with a minimum rate of $464. So the rate we are being given is, indeed, FABULOUS.

Provided everyone is happy with whatever choice they make, suits me just fine. I’m here to help.

Hmm. Hyatt Link isn't working for me. It gives an error after plugging in the dates and clicking the "search" button. The group code is showing up but I wonder if it's perhaps too new and the reservation system isn't recognizing it.
