Taking the Jag for a run up to Sydney and taking the well known short cut via Mildura. Somehow even though we drove for seven hours the sign says it still a 1000kms to Sydney. Stupid GPS.
After leaving the red dirt behind it was a pleasure to get on a road where the Jags handling and braking can be used to great effect, and one can enjoy the diverse vistas for which Australia is famous.
If you wait long enough there actually is a corner (the Hay Plain heading across to Wagga).
Sounds like a short cut I took the wife & kids on few years back, after Sydney then camping in the blue mountains I took them to Bathurst to cut a hot lap in the Jeep with camper on tow. Then 14 days to get back to Brisbane via White Cliffs, Broken Hill, Port Augusta, then north to Birdsville, Windorah and Quilpie and a truck load of towns I can't remember, And new years eve camping at Tanbar Station with the stockmen.
Enjoy the trip Steve, Australian short cuts are the best holidays.
So, the plains are behind us , now for something more relaxing on this forgiving bit of road (! Macquarie Pass descending to Wollongong)
We had one small moment going into one of these but no paint or skin left behind so all good. Sandy (Mrs Yarpos) has had several glasses of wine and is quite calm now.
