I think a lowered x308 looks impressive, although if the wheels disappear too far under the fenders, it starts to look cheap (my personal opinion though ).
A practical remark:
My car runs slightly lower than the ROW XJR's, and has of course the lower front (some ~3 inch between road surface and lower lip).
Due to the long overhang of our cars, this is really as low as I can go here, and I must be very careful in parking garages going up or down angled ramps.
Think before you do is my advice.
Yup, front lip, side skirts and rear lips, plus those rubber "feelers" on the left and right front for some protection.

I would agree--I don't like when it's too low. But I think there's an optimal height where the outside of the tire fits right in the shape of the wheel well, kind of like the front tire on the lowered pic (the back is a little too low).
I hit a bucket in the middle of the freeway a few weeks back, and it ended up getting stuck under the car, so I had to cross 3 lanes of traffic to pull over. I wonder if I had a little lower clearance, I could have plowed through it.
And yes, I agree that the rims 'touching' the fender apex is about the max ... But in real life, even mine look like they touch, although in a real sideview, there is still some 1/2 inch left.

Nice. I think my ideal height would be somewhere between the first and the second height in the GIF.
What are your thoughts on lowering? I made a Paint edit to make it seem a bit lower, compared to the current (stock) height.
Normal Height Lowered
They look nice when they are lowered. However, they only sit about 5 inches off of the ground as they came from the factory. I would never consider lowering my XJR, even though I lowered my last European sedan. That one started off with a fair amount of ground clearance, and there was a major gap between the tires and the fenders. It looked pretty bad from the factory. The x308 XJR's sit great with the stock setup, at least IMO. The slight visual improvement that you would get from lowering it is not worth the risk of damaging something underneath the car.
Took it in today, too. Mostly just posting this photo because I’m always amazed at how different the emerald metallic paint looks, depending on the angle of the sun.
Have you ever considered removing the rubber strips from the doors, and just leaving the chrome?

Of course I considered, but I am afraid of color differences underneath, and as it is a VDP with the chrome strip on top, I decided to leave it like it is.
