Assuming it's just angled that way as a result of the top two mounting screws you can fix the gap (and possible rattle!) by taking the plate off and putting a thin strip of double sided tape along the bottom of it, then pressing it back in place.
Better yet, just tape it all round and ditch the screws!
It is because of the top screws. I'm just happy I had my baby back long enough to get it slapped on there. Car is back in the shop today, so I may look into that fix when I get her back. At least this plate is much less busy than the other I had.

Also, my rear window decal is apparently very subtle (hard to get a picture), but you might like it as well. Can't decide if I should say what each part is or see who matches my geek.

Looks great Tina! Simple & clean. Nicely done. I do agree with OzXFR about tweeting the plate a bit to get it to fit flush with the car (careful while gently bending the plate; and assuming you can easily enough). Not sure about [having to use] double-sided taped to get it to fit flush (in Maine I didn’t need to resort to that) but if Oz uses it, it can’t be all bad.

Happy Motoring.

Tina,
I would recommend a slimline plate holder like this to finish off the look:
Amazon Amazon

I NEED that! I'm going to show you a couple of pictures of the stuff at my desk here at the office. It's sad that only 2 people in our entire office knows any of it!!! One corner of my desk.
Filing cabinet behind my desk.

See, I like that, but everyone else thinks they look cleaner without. I like the plain black as a frame though - especially with the black pack. First I need to get my girl back and I was hoping to make, I mean ask, my husband to get my windows tinted next weekend while I'm out of town so they can cure before I forget and roll the windows down.

Given the colors of your car and plate, using a thin black frame as the Unhingd one suggests might work and look fantastic. There’s only one way to find out. I just tend to be of the opinion that less is more. Less to distract from the inherent beauty of the car itself! Could be a nice accent color to enhance the overall look. Then again, why highlight something as banal as a license plate?

RickyJay is my personal License Plate Advisor, so I'm sure he'll tell me if a frame like that would look good on my car. I think it would, but happily, I don't care that much.

Default Since you showed us yours....

I'll show you mine...LOL

Pic #1 - This TARDIS stays on the desk 100% of the time & plays the sound of it with it's brakes on (River reference as she knows how to fly it "correctly) once lifted so every once in a while I will do that while on boring conference calls to add some levity. After all, I DO work for the company that technically owns the original full-sized versions (BT) so this may be a bit more applicable than other people's work environment. This particular Who stays in his put in his original box 100% of the time which no other Doctor has EVER been a accused of prior! LOL He is not may favorite, this was simply the only set my wife could find at the time.

Pic #2 - Basic black frame without a dealer label but does include the Mfg so is bearable. The tag # was automatically issued so I had nothing to do with it but it did give me a chance to name her...."Tipsy"

Pic #3 - This is the location at which I am periodically transported into another dimension in time and space known as... sleep!

PS - NO idea what-so-ever as to why this site decided to flip two of those photo's on their side when all three have the same PORTRAIT orientation on my computer. ARGH!

I generally prefer the less is more approach as well, but I do have a pretty great plate now. I'll wait and see how I feel about it after a while. Can always order the nice, plain black frame and try it later.

PBbarb, that's a nice plate color combo with the firesand. I need to pay the ransom money to New York State for a custom white plate instead of the retro blue and gold.

Depending on the amount of ransom it might be worth it.

I just painted my surround body color. Works for me... of course, it's a white car and a basically white plate.

$60 flat fee plus $31.25 annually for a "professions" plate but no custom lettering or other white background plates with various themes same as above; if custom lettering then $91.25 flat fee plus $62.50 annually.

Are all of you that get custom lettering paying annual fees?

Now that I've looked into to this, it appears there are a BMW and Porsche Club plates available, but no JCNA. I'd go for that if was available. Might reach out to NYS to see what kind of ransom would need to be paid to have a "club" plate available. You know those Porsche and BMW owners are flush with cash. This may be a form of discrimination.....

Here is MD, any club can get a special plate issued, but the club needs a minimum number of owner's to commit to getting the plate. The state then stamp that number plus a certain number of extras that the club pays for in advance, which then charges new members as they join. The club is responsible for the safekeeping of those extra plates.

I need to change "ransom" to "extortion". Why a yearly fee once they get the initial money?

They call it a "Vanity" plate for a reason and one of those reasons they can get the $50 each year is due to that fact. Because they CAN. I had a number of them on cars and motorcycles. My favorite was "SicNess" because it was one Sick Arlen Ness bike. Got tired of giving the $'s away myself but may still go back to one if someone special comes along.
