96 VDP won't start in the cold
Started fine yesterday....
Temp dropped to 25 now it cranks and kicks a little but won't start.
Battery is fine. And I've been recharging it between tries.
Cranks fast and smooth gets a little fuel and tries to start but just won't hold the start!!! help!!!

Cold Start Update 96 VDP
Well I got it started FINALLY after 3 days of trying.
I tried all kinds of suggestions and everything I could find on the net... NOTHING.... Was ready to call the dealer when it finally sputtered backfired and started! It ran REALLY rough for a bit like it could barely run. I got out and looked at the engine and noticed that only one exhaust pipe was blowing. I looked closer and found that the left hand exhaust pipe was actually sucking my hand and the other one was blowing weakly. So I took it out for a quick drive and floored it... a few minutes later I was blowing out of both exhausts at normal volume. Yes my Catalytic converters are fine no rattles never been overheated and my O2 sensor shows no faults. I don't know if a squirrel or rat crawled up my exhaust pipe or what.... but after it got good and warm it's been running fine since....
I put some dry gas in for just good measure after I got it to the gas station. Thanks.
Could frozen condensation clog a catalytic converter?

I know this is going to sound weird but I finally found the problem... I have replicated it many times now. The exhaust was freezing up in the muffler and clogging the system. It would start and run a little till the back pressure built up.
when I opened the door I could hear the air escaping under pressure after it died.
So I drilled a 1/2 inch hole between the muffler and the catalytic converter.
Started right up.
then I put a piece of tin over the hole with a hose clamp. Now when it won't start I undo the hose clamp and start it up.
As soon as the exhaust heats up I plug the hole up and it runs fine till it freezes again the next week...
