Accidentally pushed backup camera in
I had never opened the rear door. Was in a dark garage looking for the button. Mistook the backup camera for the button and pushed on it. The camera went inside the compartment. Is there a way I can try and get it out? The thing still works but has one side obscured by the plastic.
The trim that holds the switch and camera comes out with a light touch with a wedge. Dont be surprised if the trim piece or the camera clip is broken. Seen it before.

- Release the tailgate open switch.
- Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors.

Have you fixed it meanwhile by yourself or you let the garage do the job ? My mother pushed yesterday the camera inside too :s But I want to try it by myself first.
The camera had accidentally been pushed in by my wife, who mistook it for the boot latch.
It’s an easy mistake to make given how close the boot latch is to the camera — arguably a bit of a design flaw.
I carefully prised open the combined camera/boot latch assembly from the camera end using a cloth-covered screwdriver. The camera had been pushed out of its housing, but I was able to reposition it so it sat flush and was correctly seated within the retaining assembly. I did not disconnect either of the two connectors.
The job was quite fiddly and frustrating, but it is possible. I found it easiest to insert the boot latch side first, then carefully fit the camera side while keeping the retaining assembly in place and ensuring the camera remained properly seated and locked into the assembly.
Overall, it was a very fiddly and frustrating job, and I’m sure there must be an easier method, but I couldn’t see one.
