Door Cards Have Become Loose at the top - is it possible to push them back in?
Somehow the door cards have become slightly loose at the top on my 2003 XK8. I haven't heard any clips breaking and the cards are both firmly attached at the base of the door so I'm hoping I can push them back in. I've managed to push the passenger's side back in again pretty close but frustratingly, the driver's door card won't go back in at all, there is a gap at the end of the door where I can see a white bit of plastic. Has anyone any tips to push it back it or will the card need to come off? Even a temporary fix idea would be greatly appreciated! I've had a look at a diagram of the door card so know roughly where the clips are - I've tried to apply most pressure at these points. Many thanks in advance.
It's virtually certain that the male part of the clip has broken or slipped out of place or the female part has broken teeth. You will need to remove the door card to sort it out but make sure you buy a few complete trim clips before you start as one or two will probably break. Do it when the weather is as warm as possible and the car has been parked in the sun.
The amp is in the rear so much easier to work with. The advice for tweeters might still apply. Use A-pillars if you can't do another cable line drop easily from the door connection into the cabin.
