Separate key and fob - combine into one
Hi,
Would anyone please have a link to where I could order a decent quality "all-in-one" key and fob with a blank flip-out Jaguar-style blade, so that I could combine my separate key and fob into one unit? There are so many different variants out there with such a range of prices, I'd like a recommendation from someone who's actually bought one and used it successfully please. I know I'll have to get the chip from the key transferred over as well. Thanks in advance.

I've used this seller on eBay who's based in Taiwan. This does require that you have access to an automotive locksmith who can do the chip programming as well as cutting the key. https://www.ebay.com/itm/135314276281

Prior to 2001, the keys were 8-cut keys, which are longer than the later, 6-cut keys. The fob is also not compatible with the earlier transmitter.
Regarding the transponder, earlier Jags used a different model chip, but these can be cloned using the XHorse Super Chip and appropriate programmer, which most auto locksmiths have. This helps, because few smiths will CUT Tibbe keys -- it takes a special adapter for the milling machine, it's time consuming, and one goof out of as many as 32 cuts means starting over with a new blank.
I currently get $45 for an 8-cut Tibbe key "shell" (without transponder), and someone who only has one key should have a local locksmith do the cloned chip, rather than risking it in shipping to me. Anyone with the programmer to get the car to recognize an additional key with factory transponder, those cost $75 (when blanks are available).
