Default It was just a matter of time

Just like our homes, the best we can do is put obstacles, if any, in the way. Despite my deadbolt locks, if someone really wants in to my house, they can probably do it.

Same with the cars.

I bought a set of Faraday bag/key holders for the F and the Corvette. If I take the car anywhere, as soon as I park and lock the car, I stuff that fob in the Faraday. I believe I know it works because when I forget to take the fob out of the bag, the car won't start. Someone with one of these code readers would have to be just at the right spot and right time to nail my fob. At home, the fob goes back in the bag again.

Amazon Amazon

There are any number like this on AMazon or other sites. The vendor I used, sold them as a 2-pack, plus offered 'lifetime' replacement. The strip that holds part of the keychain ripped off, so I submitted my Amazon order number to the vendor and they did replace them. The replacements were better constructed.

There are also devices that lock the steering wheel to the brake pedal. And 'the Club' is till being made... $60 at amazon.

If someone really wants to get into my house and isn't concerned with property damage, yeah, it's easy. Drive that stolen pickup truck in my living room and you've got a huge new front door. As you say, put up obstacles and make your property (car, home, whatever) a less attractive target than others'.

I was tempted to buy a Flipper just to see what it's capable of but my work doesn't overlap with that kind of thing anymore and it would've ended up as just another toy sitting in a drawer.

Faraday bag is a great idea, especially for travel.

Battery disable for the keyfob is another good line of defense.

Agreed it's all about putting barriers in the way and not being an easy target.

Default Looks like a possibility..

Someone sure has a good idea. However, the increased cynic in me says... 'Ok, the chinese just figured out another way to infiltrate". At @ $116 USD, I will have to weigh my risk to benefit ratio. It's obviously an overseas vendor, I see what KIWA is, but don't see how it is regulated.
My risk currently is quite low, perhaps someone abroad or in a US area that has a high vehicle theft rate might test this?

So, then if they are going to tow it, how would this immobilizer be of benefit?

Exactly my point, the real thieves use tow trucks and will just wait for you to park it in an accessible area. If they really want your car nothing will stop them.

If you just want to dissuade the average thief then get an immobiliser and sleep well at night.
