Default V12 1989 Oil leak drivers side

Hi all,

I own a 1989 Jaguar XJS V12 and it has a slow engine oil leak. I first checked up top around the oil senders and cam covers and everything looks fine.

Went underneath and couldn’t see much at first, checked the sump and then removed the torque converter cover and found this. It looks pretty fresh with new oil.

I also checked the PCV and it wasn’t too bad, but easy enough to clean.

Any ideas?

If it means anything that side of the car last year had an oil leak. Cam cover, box was resealed and oil feed pipe was done in that side. Oil leaks stopped but have noticed a small drop now.

Bit late, oops.

Tappet Block sealing/leaking, can be an issue on some. I never had it on any of mine. Greg did a thread on that I think? a while back. He will see this eventually and sort the link for you.

Oil leaks inside the tin plate of the flwheel are rarish, but not unknown.

The 1989 is on a cusp. They changed from the rope seal to a full circle flaseal somewhere there. Build date and Vin will have someone clarify that for you.

The rear main bearing cap "sealing" to the block is hit and miss. There is an article on this in Kirby Palms book, downloadable on here somewhere. ALL mine weeped from there until I did the TV fill up, now all dry.
