Default Mincer Mounted on my XJS

After looking around for a Camera Mount, I decided to try and make one to my own Specification.

So I 'Borrowed' the GF's Mincer and mounted it on the Bonnet/Hood of the Car.

No need to drill any holes, as the base has a 1000mm (4in) rubber sucker, which works by 'flipping' a lever, to extract the Air.

After which I removed all the 'Mincer Parts' which were only held in place by a Single 'Clamping Screw'

Then I cut the Top of a 'Mono Pod' (single pole Tripod)
and screwed it into the Tripod Mount on the Base of the Camera and Clamped the Camera and 'Mono Pod' Stub, back into the Mincer with the same Clamping Screw.

The Suction of the 'Mincer Mount' is so strong, that it would easily hold my DSLR, although I am going to test it out in various positions, with my compact Camera.

I like the idea of a mincer on the bonnet more than a camera.
Next a coffee machine with suckers on the trunk, and the car will be paid by a new business .
Sturdy base for the camera though!

I knew someone who had a beer keg mounted in a Vauxhall Viva.

It could also be driven down the street on the starter which was
hooked up to a discarded diesel bus battery.

And it had the rear seat bar system ripped from a RR.

All done by a very, very bored UK expat working as a diesel
mechanic on night shift.

I wouldn't even begin to try this not knowing what that thing can stand. Just seeing that it holds stationary and hoping it will work at 60mph isn't enough. Just get a gopro. You are going to lose that camera and probably put a dent somewhere in the car anyway, then you will still have to buy the gopro, but also replace the camera and fix whatever you broke.

Trust me, it isn't fun. I've had a spinner come off at 35mph and got lucky it hit my a-pillar and not something with paint on it.

I foresee a future thread of "Cracked Windscreen" or "GF Won't Go For a Drive Anymore" or "Insurance Fine Print Doesn't Mention Mincer"

No I wasn't Lol

I wanted to record some Trips, in Hi Definition and as such was wanting to do this by using a DSLR Camera that would give me the kind of result that I was looking for.

And this works every bit as well as I had been hoping.

That Mincer has a 'Massive' amount of Suction but 'Plan 'B' is to Stick it on the Windscreen, inside the Car using a slightly different set up, so that I can 'tether it' to the rear view mirror stalk. (just in case)

If She finds I nicked her mincer, I'll get more than a Cracked Windscreen!

I feel a new thread starting soon:

"I've just bought an 89 convertible. Should it have a Growler, a Leaper or a Mincer?"

Paul

leave the mincer on. it should deal with cyclists quite adequately. you may get a jam with the lycra and the bag of lentils though

No, no, no!

The Leaper must be mounted on the Mincer to hold it more proudly aloft.

Sort of like The Flying Lady On Steroids.

Mind you don't let the tail droop in the mincer ... cats don't like that much.
