1989 XJ6 - Heater fan working sporadically

Hello:

My name is Chris, and I just picked up a 1989 XJ6 base model. So far, I have cleaned it up, mounted and balanced new tires, installed new front pads and rotors, and chased down a PS leak. I also will have to sort the horrible electronic dash in the future.

But now the heater fan only works when it wants to! I can hear a click when I turn the main fan control knob, but no fan. Yet sometimes it will kick on.

Any ideas?
