Default Seat repair - Cheshire area

Hi,

Anyone able to recommend someone who can do some seat repair work on my '03 XKR? I little stitching by the right shoulder of the driver's seat and also the driver's right bolster could do with a tidy up. Pics attached.

I've submitted quote requests to a few companies but none have come back. I wonder if they want nice juicy jobs and not bothered with something that could be a small but fiddly piece of work.

So if anyone knows of someone in the Chester/north Wales region it'd be appreciated Car like this I want to keep in tip top condition. Just need to find someone who can do the work.

Thanks.
Stuart

Furniture Clinic have a good reputation for vehicle leather repairs. The company was founded in the North East of England but now has franchised branches around the UK:

There's a branch in Crewe which is close to you.

Hi Graham,

Thanks, got in touch with them and got a quote. Seems they're a bit closer to me than Crewe, which isn't a million miles anyway.

From the pic I sent them and discussion they think the bolster could be dyed.

Cheshire Car Trim also quoted, but they thought it would be better to replace the leather panel on the bolster (which would also fix the stitching issue as the same panel) than use a dye.

In two minds. New leather sounds better than dye, but getting it to match sounds tricky. Though they're the experts and know more about leather than I.

Anyone thoughts, or experience, re dye or replace the leather? Haven't got the quotes to hand but don't think was such a difference to make one significantly more attractive price wise.

Looking like one of those two, at the moment, will make a decision and let you know how it works out.

Stuart,

Good to hear you found two nearby specialists.

Unless there's some bolster wear out of shot, the only damage looks to be the stitching has failed - the needle holes in the leather appear intact.

I'd go for a repair rather than replacement. They may be wizards at re-upholstering a full seat but matching one piece to the rest of the Jaguar OE leather will be extremely difficult.
