Default XJ6 3.2 x300....oil?

I have a 3.2L x300 XJ6 1996/7... what engine oil should I use? I see Costco has Mobil 1 0w -40 and Castrol Edge 0W-30, 5W-30 and 5W-40. Any help would be great.

I have used Castrol GTX 10-40, Shell Helix HX7 10-40 and Eurocarparts own brand Triple QX 10-40. The last one was really cheap when on special offer. I checked all the specifications and each of them seemed to be a good match so I buy on price. People can be snooty about EuroCarParts stuff but they are made to spec by a well established company whose name I can't recall.
Look on the X300 forum and settle down for a good, long read

+1 on Europarts Triple QX.. from time to time you get discounts or 2 for 1 on the oil, and it is pretty much the same spec as more expensive oils.. I have run an X-Tyupe and 2 X308s on it without issue.

Your car doesn't need and won't benefit at all from synthetic oil. I'd use conventional oil and choose the viscosity recommended by Jag in the owners manual.

Hi there, I’ve always used Castrol magnatec 10w40, was told by independent jaguar specialists that’s it’s the best for this engine, not overly expensive if on offer either.
