Default anyone able to reprogram my 03 s-type R in south florida?

just got my first jag. 03 stype R. pretty fun car to drive, scary fast. fixing it up myself as I work on cars, dousnt need much but has a problem with the trans I keep hearing is actually a softwear issue from jag. there is a service bulletin and says just to reboot system with newest softwear but im trying to not spend over 150 dollars just to have the program run which takes less then 15 minutes.

if anyone is in south florida the can help me out that would be great

problem= the vehicle shifts kind of hard but main problem is hard shift from 2-1 gear when slowing down. sometimes there is a slip on the way up but not all the time

there is a bulletin below that shows recommended computer reboot. might or might not take care of problem but i can offer you 50 dollars and come to your location. usually takes 10 minutes to run program. iv had it done on cars before and I can come to you because I know time is a factor. im in west palm beach

here is the info

BMW TSB - SIB240305 bulletin:
SUBJECt= Harsh 2-1 Downshift

An excessively harsh 2-1 downshift when decelerating to a stop, or
Transmission "bangs" into gear when accelerating from a full or a "rolling" stop

CORRECTION= On a customer complaint basis only, reprogram/recode complete vehicle using SSS
with CIP on-line update 17.01, or higher.

Important:
Transmission temperature must remain below 50 deg C and trans shifter must be
placed in P position prior to the start of CIP programming.

Default re-program

I just did it (for the same issue) and it works

disconnet the battery terminals
click them together
leave them apart for a half hour

re-connet them

the computer is back to the factory settings (default)
and will start learning driving habits re: Accelerasion, braking, slowing down and re-reaccelerating, etc.

Sounds to simple to be true, but, it worked for me

good luck

p.s. A jaguar dealer's service advisor told me to do this

Default

The condition you're referring to is commonly called 'the lurch'. The factory fix worked on some but not all cars. Didn't work on mine.

The trick suggested by Chris will work for a short while until the transmission learns bad habits again.
