refinishing 71 XKE S3 undercoating?
My 1971 Jaguar XKE S3 2+2 is being repainted and then complete interior reupholster. The repaint is now going on 19 months! Awful, sad, frustrated, etc. I know but not much I can do about it. Its a very long story. The car is currently painted and being put back together slowly and I hope, every month, close to moving it to the next shop for a completely new upholstery (kit provided by me). Now the paint shop has it up on a lift and brought up the following that I never taught about and would like XKE owners and Jag Judges advice on the following questions.
The paint shop indicated they were going to undercoat the bottom Black about an inch or so up from the bottom wrap seam > photo attached.
Question > How far from the bottom seam should undercoat go and should it be left black or sprayed the same color as the car? If you have a xke I'd like to know how yours is done.
Wheel wells> Basically the same question. Should both front and back wheel wells be undercoated and should they then be sprayed the same color as the car? Seems like the front wheel wells are obvious when the bonnet is lifted up. The real wheel wells, of course, are completely covered by the wheel and not very visible at all so probably should be black?
Thanks for your help
