My 1993 XJ6 won't start, to has power to horn,hazard lights,windows, subroof but instruments panel lights do not come on. i thought it was the security system was locked but it was turned off. I have made an appt with a dealer in Chantilly Va. The transmission shifter seems to be locked, how can I unlock it.

Sorry folks, had a senior moment. There was no problem, I could move the shifter out of park but could not move it past Rev. I thought it had to be in neutral but out of park means no gear and the car can be moved. Picked up yesterday and off to Tony's garage
