Default XJR in the snow

Over here in Detroit they've got a few that I'm considering.

Anyone here have experience with XJRs, XJ8s, etc. in the snow?

I appreciate the info. Who knows, I'll probably buy one

Welcome to the forum! Don't forget to go the the "New Members" section and introduce yourself.

With some good snow tires, I've been told they handle okay in the snow. I'll find out soon enough once the snow flies.

Default XJ8 in the Snow

Hi ProbablyMike,

Welcome to the forum!
I picked up my 1999 XJ8 last December and drove it without any problems, but my car has the winter package that includes traction control and this kicked in quite a few times while driving on slippery roads. So I would say that if you get a XJ8 check to see if it has this option. I believe that the XJR's have traction control as standard but not 100% sure.

I have a (new to me) 2005 Super V8 arrived a couple of weeks ago. I'm older and used to driving rear wheel drive (in the 70's that's all we had). My wife's Mercedes s430 is rear wheel drive with traction control and although it takes a bit of adjustment, it does fine up here in Minnesota. I suspect the same will be true for the Jag but they are longer wheel base.

What I'm concerned about and would appreciate feedback on is washing the car in winter. With the aluminum body, I'm hesitant to drive and have the need to wash the car in the winter. I don't know the impact of road salt on the body or care washes. Can folks chime in on their experience?
