Default 2001 XKR diagnostic

My 2001 XKR has a "check engine" light. My local mechanic believes the problem is a fuel pump... (either the primary or secondary), but can not identify which. Where can I take my Jag to get a comprehensive "diagnostic" that will identify the problem?

If you want a comprehensive "diagnostic" you could take the vehicle to a Jaguar Dealer or to an independent with dealer level diagnostics.

However, for the type of fault which triggers the CEL, a less sophisticated type of code reader will give adequate results. Many US members use Autozone or Pep Boys to get powertrain error codes (Pxxxx) read. If you do this, ask for the actual codes and not just descriptions of what they think they mean.

I would first take your question to XK8/XKR forum. Several members have had issues with fuel pumps on the XKR and could have some useful and $$$ saving advice.
