Has closed

I was just at parts department 2 weeks ago - I drive by today - empty with for sale sign out front

 

They sold to the Land Rover dealer in Paramus about a month ago. I think they still own Madison Jaguar.

 

In some ways, this is very unfortunate. Bergen Jaguar has been a landmark in Bergen County, and at one time, was the nation's largest Jaguar dealer. It is too bad that only after Jaguar has improved its lineup, does it finally go out of business. I think that Prestige Jaguar is going to reap the benefits of the Jaguar turnaround especially after all-wheel-drive comes out next year.

 

Another thing, Bergen Jaguar had a lot of great employees, particularly in the service department. I really hope that Prestige Jaguar is smart enough to hire a lot of the same people from the Bergen Jaguar service department.

Ouch! They used to run a lot of ads on cable. I contacted them first about XKR availability and they referred me to their sister dealership in Madison. Hope Madison doesn't go under.

 

I found Luke who used to be my service advisor at Madison Jaguar.

Prestige apparently only hired one Jaguar mechanic from Bergen Jaguar...

I don't feel like having my Jaguar worked on by Land Rover mechanics so I'm going to Madison Jaguar from now on.

 

My daughter lost one of my key sets, so I wet to Prestige to find out about a replacement.

The Jaguar dealership is taking the building once occupied by the Mercedes dealership- but it is under construction. LandRover will maintain existing building.

One of the two Bergen service advisors came over, 5 mechanics came and one part department employee. All salesmen were terminated.

I was told that JagLandRover prefers one dealer with both brands.

Bergen Jaguar is the 3rd Jaguar dealer in Northern NJ has closed since 2007- Montclair and Englewood were the first 2

 

Which service advisor? Was it Phil or was it Luke?

 

Thank you for all of your kind words. I worked at Bergen Jaguar in the service department and I miss everyone dearly, we were really like one big family. We were totally in shock when they told us mid Dec that we were being sold to Prestige. We all truly loved our jobs and we worked well as a team together. It's a shame that Prestige didn't take more employees with them.

 

Does anybody know if Phil got a position with prestige? if not, that would be a tremendous injustice.

 

Heather-you guys were really great. I really enjoyed every service experience I had, and I really am sad that the dealership no longer exists.

 

Phil really was the best! I bumped into him a few weeks ago over at Town Audi in Englewood. He brought me up to speed on what had happened over at Bergen Jaguar and I was shocked but not totally shocked as every time I was in there for parts or service I rarely saw customers in the showroom no matter what time of day it was. He told me that he was interviewing for a service writers position... Our family is friendly with the family that owns the Town Motors brand and I made sure to call and let them know what an asset he would be to their dealership.

@Matt Did Phil happen to mention the financial health of Madison Jaguar? I would call Madison myself but I'm sure they would tell me all is well even if things weren't.

Madison is owned by the same person who owned Bergen. I know they have very deep pockets.

 

I'm a Prestige Rover customer, bought two Rovers (in 2 years?) and just bought the XF S/C from them. Recommend our salesperson, Charles Marconi. Always able to work out a deal with them....
