I am thrilled to see more interest in our April drive. Here are the preliminary plans.
Meet at Smokey Point I-5 Rest Area a just north of Marysville at 9AM. Have car full of gas, tire air, fluids, et cetera. If we butter Vince up he may bring maple bars! We want to hit the road by 9:15. We take the first exit going north to the Old Pioneer Highway (original Pacific Highway over a century ago before they built what is now called Old Pacific Highway). Drive through Silvana to Stanwood through the picturesque lower Stillaguamish Valley stopping at scenic historic church. Head north via Conway and Fir Island on back roads until reaching Highway 20, then west to stops at Deception Pass and Rosario Beach. Return via Reservation Road through Swinomish Reservation to La Conner for a great lunch at La Conner Seafood and Prime Rib House right on the water. After lunch a tour of the full color tulip fields if traffic and time permit, then south via Warm Beach, Kayak Point, and the Tulalip Reservation before ending at I-5 in Marysville. We should be done between 3 and 4.
Things are looking good so far!.
Alas 9AM means getting up at at O-Dark-Thirty (5:30) to make the boats work. I don't think we can make Edmunds to Marysville in 35, so I think we will need the 7:05 boat (grrrr).
Do we pick up anyone at Lynnwood Jaguar for the caravan? 30 minutes from there to Smoky Point.

Tell me what time your preferred boat unloads in Edmonds. From the ferry dock it would be a good 15 minutes to the Jag dealer at 196th and the freeway, and then from there 25 or less to the rest area, depending on the fuzz density. 40 minutes total if no stops. I would hate to leave any later than 10 but if we have to I'll cut out some of the stops so we finish up on time for those with later plans. If people can come to the rest area (where we have begun many runs over the years) and not the dealer we would save several minutes I'm sure. I'm getting VERY excited about seeing all my Jag friends (and new folks!) again and going for a spin in the country. Now where are those radio batteries?

Kevin
Kev,
Yer timing isnt perfect for me, but I'll do it cause I'm as anxious to meet up with folks as you are! Been a long miserable winter.... But if you can flex a tad... I know I would appreciate it... But in the end, I'm counting on you and Karen to be our guide for this run, so I will always bow to your authority and the majority preferances.
Making the 7:55 departure from Kingston gives me nearly another hour sleep, yet only adds maybe 15-20 minutes to your S.P. departure schedule.
I'd still like to offer up meeting at Lynnwood if anyone is interested (speak up folks, or well bypass it!).
Soooo... 7:55 Boat, arrive Jag dealership by 8:50. I need maybe a few to jump into a store for maple bars, but that is pretty quick, and I might get it done before the boat if I'm on schedule.
Fuzz density is annoying (Think I've been pulled over twice now for anything involving the Kingston boat and Jags... Yeash...) Everyone take care out there Saturday....
Radios... Yep.... Gotta hunt down the charger... oh, and guess I better go get the Jag out of storage!
OK then, if it is acceptable for everyone let's say meet at the Smokey Point Rest Area at 9:30 with the aim of rolling out by 9:45. Of course we will wait for anyone rushing to meet us that gives Vince or Jay or me a call that they are almost there. My cell is 425-299-4001.
I just thought I’d introduce myself as I hope to join ya on some drives in the future if you welcome newcomers to your group.
It was MuddyDog who introduced me to the joy of driving a Jaguar, so when I saw a classic on sale (XJS) I bought her. Today completes week one with her in my garage and I am already prioritizing the projects that need to be done, though in truth she seems to be in great shape for being a ‘94.
I live in Port Angeles, so whenever you do the Hurricane Ridge drive I’m absolutely gonna be down to cruise along.

Gah - hate to do this, but I've been gone most the week traveling and am behind in things I gotta do that aren't leisure things. I just can't make this work today... /sigh
Broadcast PMs really are a great way to get my attention these days. Or... FaceBook ping! Looking forward to seeing pics from today!

Have fun on your ride tomorrow!
Hey ObeTwo,
I'm also in Port Angeles. I'll have to keep an eye out for you driving around this summer.
I won't be on the drive today, but hopefully I'll make the next one.
This was a great drive, my friends. Who ordered the perfectly sunny, top-down weather? Thank you Swimref for all the effort in planning the route and waypoints. It takes a lot to plan these drives and we're lucky to have some knowledgeable guys who know these roads better than most. Great group of people all around! Sorry we missed a few of you but try and make the next one if you can. Don't feel bad, Olympic P. people. Hood Canal Bridge was closed from 4am to 8 am. You would have missed your ferry and sat frustrated in traffic for who knows how long! Oh well, some things we can't control.
Here's a few of my pictures...
Setting off for a drive. Aren't we missing our leader?
Just a simple country drive.
Captivating color! The light reflecting the trees just fascinated me.
Deception Pass
Deception Pass Bridge
The Maiden of Deception Pass
The Gang's all here!
Two tuckered pups in the end.

Holy Crap! I'm Sun burnt! Who ordered this dang sunny stuff anyhow! Must have been the first my skin has seen any sun for 2018 cause we only sat outside for eats! How did you vert owners hold up? Ouch ouch ouch...
Hey Thanks all! Swim for doing the hard work, and our 2 new friends So Sick and Bob B for bringing out the gorgeous cars to show off and join us on a April adventure!
I'm toast right now, so I'll dig through the camera and see if I got any good fuzzy shots of the ground, or unknown vehicles passing in front of the scene to share tomorrow!
Great (ouch) fun! (ouch)
must... buy... sun burn lotion... (Ouch)....
Great pictures, guys! I really had a good time and I thank you all for coming. Special thanks to Clever and Muddy, our forum leaders, they make the whole thing run. It was really great to meet SoSick and BobB, I hope to see them again many times in the future. I apologize for not staying on schedule, we ended up about an hour later than planned, but I really enjoyed our relaxed outdoor lunch in the sunshine right on the water. Already looking forward to the next one.
