Fifth Annual Leavenworth Drive
#22
I think we should call it. So far the 17th works, and it hopefully gives XJDanny a chance to reach out to the Seattle club, which could be a game changer getting some of the more classic beauties driving with us.
Any strong objections speak now or forever hold your peace. (Brian, figure something out buddy, you've got time on your side to sort it. Please?)
JWS V8S has indicated the Wellington side trip is not at the top of his list, and I suspect if Danny can draw a classic or two along with him, they would probably shy from that one as well. We can keep it open for discussion, but it may be be better suited for a different day.
Input please...

Absolutely can't do the 17th. It's the annual PacNW/BC Area Rolls/Bentley tour that weekend. It's been planned for a year, and I'm the activities chair so... I'm stuck. I'll be on Whidbey Island.
<chuckles> No worries folks, scheduling happens. If you decide to bump a week to the 24th, I'm in. Otherwise, enjoy a Doppelbock for me in my place.

Well I can see the importance of Rahtoks obligations, bummer. I'll be sure to raise a glass in your honor.
The 24th (Leaf Festival) is still a colorful event and we would approach it with more knowledge this year if enough were interested in the shift, but right now the 17th is dominating our numbers. The other thing the 24th gains is access to Lake Wenatchee for free.
We will side step the lake on the 17th unless attendees want to pay a one time day fee of $10 or get the annual Discover pass for $30. The lake is a wonderful place to stretch your legs, take car photos and chat... before grabbing lunch 15 minutes away.
1.) Clevername 17th or 8th
2.) XJDanny 17th or 18th?
3.) FPacePNW 17th or ?
4.) Swimref 17th
5.) JWS V8S 17th

The banner has arrived--we are official!
I can't make the 18th or the 24th. I think we need to call it the 17th. Name a time and I'll send out final PM invitations with all the details.

17th it is......
9am(ish) departure from Safeway ( 19651 US-2, Monroe, WA 98272) parking lot.
The overview:
We will depart Safeway and head south a bit to drive scenic Ben Howard Road which will eventually return us to Hwy2 at Sultan.
2 restroom breaks are planed, the first can be a long-haul for us coffee drinkers... expect 60 minutes before we hit Iron Goat Rest Area. If we have access to the Old Cascade Hwy I'll vote for a pull over and chat along that relaxing road. The second rest Area is across the pass 25 minutes further down the road.
>Decisions from there route wise.
We have had the fortune for a couple years to visit Lake Wenatchee as a great stop and photo Op, but we miss the free day on this drive. Although I have an annual pass, many may not, and the day fee is now $10 (annual is only $30)! I'll raise my hand for the stop, but we have to be in the majority to do it. If we stay on Hwy 2 and follow the river, it is a short run to Leavenworth, but the drive has many scenic pull overs that can accommodate a fare number of cars if we park right.
In Leavenworth, we should have access to the school parking just one block off of Main Street.
After a filling lunch and maybe a pint, we grab Hwy 97 to Cle Elum and I-90 back to the western slopes, perhaps for a parting meal if your inclined.
Any contributions in the form of ideas are welcome! Lets hear them!

An out of state friend and I just made the loop Tuesday (Reminder to self... never drive the loop on weekdays... annoying road construction at every turn!)
The Skykomish is running beautifully, the forest canopy on Old Cascade is lush and green, and as always, Leavenworth was vibrant and alive under blue skies!
I'm sorry to say leaf colors are not yet shifting, but two weeks could start to see a shift.
I'm looking forward to seeing all our growing Jag friends and families enjoying each others company, and of course, our favorite marque on the scenic back roads!
Lets see a few more names in the list!

Gettin down to the wire! All you last minute lolly-gaggers need to stop gagging on those lollys and get on the list!
Weather is looking great, so expect sunshine and warmer temps on the other side! (You vert owners are gonna love it)
Eastbound Route
Westbound return
As always, come prepared with full tanks, and inflated tires.
We use FRS radios (Available at most Target/Walmart/Hardware stores) for car to car communications. If you don't have time to pick up a pair, we have a few loaners available that kinda work OK.
Expect several stops for potty breaks, photo ops, and fun chit chat along the way!

Well, sadly the forecast for Saturday is 100% chance of rain over here and 50% chance in Leavenworth. If the forecast doesn't improve, I'm afraid I'm going to bail on the drive. At this point, count me out. If the weather improves, I'll post another message saying I'll still make it. Sorry guys! :-(
