I can't make this one but some have said this is a pretty cool thing. If you go post up your experiences!

Thanks for the heads-up! Griots has had some pretty good tech sessions in the past. From their calendar of events, Griots has a number of events going on next Saturday, including their monthly"Caffeine and Gasoline" at 8:00 am and later on, a car show that goes to 3:00 pm. Again, appreciate the notice. I plan on attending.

I am a member of The Salish Sea MINI Motoring Club, we go to Griot's tech sessions a couple of times a year. They are always different, and I always learn something. I have a little roll around table/cart from Harbor Freight where I have all my detail tools and chemicals, many of them are Griot's products.

Looks like the Seattle Jag Club members will be attending this one, too:

March 7, 10:00am - TECH SESSION, Griot's Garage. There will be a drive to
an non hosted lunch afterwards at The Hub Restaurant in
the Narrows Airport after the Tech session.

Heads-up! The Griots tech sessions scheduled for tomorrow are being held at Park Place's Auto Salon in Bellevue only. Griots is hosting their monthly session as well as a car show in Tacoma; but, no tech sessions (I just called to confirm). I misread the poster. Only Park Place is hosting the Griots tech sessions this time.

This seems like it would be a good one to go to. Unfortunately I still won't be able to make it and it looks like my post about the Jag club was wrong, too. I had the date wrong.

So I checked out the Griots detailing sessions. Few attendees (the nice weather got 'em), but the Griots guys ("Jason" in particular) were informative and very helpful. While the demos and products were mostly unchanged, there were a few new items, some of which I've used recently and have been quite impressed.

A new product, "Complete Compound," is a great way to use a one-step correcting/polishing formula without having to backwards correct, i.e., use a milder polish to follow up on a more aggressive polish. For example, using "Machine Polish 3" to follow up on using "Machine Polish 2." Try it with a microfiber cutting pad and you'll never go back. I have only black cars, so being able to correct the inevitable swirls and cobwebbing scratches is key.

They also brought out a new tire-dressing spray called "Black Shine." Haven't tired it. But, I've tried one of these newer tire spray products before with some lasting success, though the fumes during the application were quite strong. The Griots product has a pleasant odor, but as with the other non-Griots product I tried, the "sling factor" looks to be still there, i.e., one has to be rather conservative in spraying these types of products lest they trickle a little too much into the tire tread cracks and sling onto the paint. Your results may differ.
