Default Place in Bay Area (San Jose/Santa Cruz) to get an XK8 key made

Hello BA Jagfolks,

I only have one key for my '03 XK8.
I've heard that these can only be done at specific places - like the dealer or a few other locksmiths. My local locksmith can program them but can't cut them.

Service at British Motors San Jose gets pretty terrible reviews.
Where else can I get a key made (or programmed)?

While I'm at it, do I need a fob (remote) for it, or will the key unlock the car and drive it without the fob? The "key is chipped" thing has me wondering.

Lastly, any thoughts on how to do this cost effectively would be appreciated. I see blank Jag keys (and remotes) on Ebay and on Amazon for somewhat reasonable prices, but would still need someone to cut and program...

Thanks!

I found the answer to my own question, which I'll share in hopes of helping others.
The only guy I found is Schwenk Lock and Safe in San Jose (on Winchester near Stevens Creek). He can be a bit brusque but he's totally competent.
He can't program them, but he can definitely cut them.

Keystone Auto Services in Santa Clara (behind the Ford dealer) reprogrammed an ebay key FOB for my 02 xjr for cheap...like 40 bucks I think. I believe schwenk's turned me to them.
