My 2009 XJ will not start, It cranks for about 1 to 2 seconds and stops.cranking on its own, while I hold the key in start position. .Battery is charged and I also tried "jumping" with no change in the problem. Any ideas on what could stop the starter from turning the engine. Thanks in advance for any ideas. JOHN BEAR

 

Pull the starter and check if it's good on the bench.
If it is then turn the engine over with a wrench and see if the engine is locked up?
