Default Advice on new wheel sizes for X350

I've recently got a XJ6 2004 and want to change the stock wheels.

It's currently running on 8Jx18 ET49 with 235/50-18 tyres

My question is would a set of aftermarket wheels and tyres with the following sizes fit ok?

8.5Jx18 ET40 with 245/45-18

I checked the sizes on WillTheyFit.com and it suggests the wheels will sit 2.7mm further away from the suspension struts and 15.4mm towards the outer wheel arch. Also a drop of 7.25mm and a very slight change to the speedometer but nothing big enough to cause an issue.

I'm pretty sure they should be fine but wanted to check with those more knowledgable before shelling out £2000.

Going up one size like that is generally never an issue on a stock car like that, also the lower profile will improve handling. I would go for it as that extra small width will make a noticeable improvement in handling....

Thanks! Good to know I'm not making a big mistake.

Wheels are ordered, just waiting on custom PCD drilling.
