Default Door Sticker Doesn't Match What's on the Car

Just purchased a 2005 Vanden Plas. It has 235/50 R18 tires all around, including the spare. The spare appears to be original - Michelin Pilot with a date of manufacture in 2004. The door sticker, however, states that the originally installed tires were all 255/40 R19, including the spare. The previous owner (2014-present) claims he did not replace the wheels.

Anyone have an explanation for the discrepancy? Is it probable that someone replaced the original 19" wheels with 18" wheels somewhere along the way?

Is there a chance that 18" tires are installed on the factory 19" wheels, or is that not physically possible?

Thanks for any advice!

Welcome to the forums nova_black_jag,

I appreciate this is a wheel/tyre question and you have posted in the logical place but I think you could get a better response from members with the same model by re-posting the question in X350 forum.
