OK. Just bought 96 XJR. Currently running 245/45 17s. Need new tires. Owner's manual is confusing on recommended size. All rims shown are 7x16s EXCEPT mine. Picture of mine says it's a 8x16. OK. Here's where I'm confused. Recommended size is either 225/60 16 (as all other rims) OR 255/45 17s... Whaaa? Are they suggesting that my rim is a 16 with a 17 tire? No size of 17 rims is listed.

 

Hmmm. The manual for my '95 shows the correct info. They must've goofed in editing the '96 manuals.

Anyhow.....

Your XJR should have the 17x8 wheels using the 255/45x17 tires.

Unless, of course, someone has changed wheels......which is certainly possible.

What size tires are on the car now?
