spruce up wheels ? - 95 xj6
Hey all,
Got a bit of a problem with the alloy wheels in my new (old) cat. The wheels are starting to look pretty sad and I'm wondering if I can clean them up. It looks like kindov a blend between curb rash & possibly oxidization. Also, it looks like whomever put the tires on last had a helluva time balancing them because you can see where the weights have been clamped down, unclamped, moved, clamped again etc.
Anyhow what i'm left with is kindov a chewed up look in parts and a creeping whitish junk in areas, with two wheels being worse then the others. the spare looks amazing, so i can swap that out easy, but is there anything you'd recommend to try and clean them up ? rubbing compound ? brake cleaner ?

Try the detailing area giraffe, there may be more advice and content over there. Have you considered just having them 're-finished' for around $125 each? I've had a local place do mine. They'll blast it and start over, making them look brand new.
