Why Does My Jaguar Ride Like a Shopping Cart?
I recently purchased a 2005 X-Type 3.0 Automatic and it rides like a a shopping cart. I live in Minnesota U.S. where there are alot of pot holes this time of year. When I hit these with the car, it feels like the front struts are going to pierce through the hood, not to mention the sound caused by the bump and the jolt to it's occupants.
Okay, so thinking it was strut issues, I took the car into the local Jag dealer and they told me there is nothing wrong with the suspension. Automobile Dealers usually want to put new parts on your vehicle so I was shocked (no pun intended) to find out there was nothing found.
This vehicle has 102K miles and the Dealer (only one in Minneapolis) has done all the recommended maintenance to date with the previous owner. I was told this vehicle has a "Sport Suspension"
I can't believe the Jaguar Engineers meant for this vehicle to ride so horrible. Heck, I have a Mazda 626 with 240K miles on it and it takes bumps better.
Any help with this matter is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Crafty

You don't say what wheels and tyres you have on the car, big rims and low profile rubber can go a long way to knocking your teeth out over bumps.
Hard suspension bushes can also have an effect.

Not to go into a Billion different details on how and why, I'll simply say this, Size and Tire Brands do make a differense. Most people are not aware but you can't just put any size wheel on your car and Tire Brands make a differense also. On my two new cars, I have 22 inch tires on both, not the same sizes and not the same Brand, it all makes a difference, you can't just throw any size wheel on it and expect the same feel. Again, I'm not gonna go into details cause their is a lot of factors, If you are running stock sizes, then maybe it's your tire brand, are the shocks stock brand?
