Hello all

My Jaguar X-Type 2.2 D, 2010 has problems starting when on a hill.

If the car is pointing upwards it will not start. If the car is pointing downhill it starts with lots of smoke.

The engine will turn over ( on electrical problem ) then the engine starts to run but has a low tick over for about 5 seconds and then runs fine.

This usually happens overnight, once the car is running there are no problems with starting during the day. No problems with ruuning at all and goes well at low and high speed.

Any suggestions?

Sounds like it could be the fuel pump.

Not sure if these have a pump in the tank like the Rover 75 does.

If so it maybe there is not enough pressure to push the fuel through or the pickup pipe may have fallen off in the tank
