'02 X-type
I have an '02 X-type. The engine has given me no problems whatsoever, but I have had a few struggles with several other things. Granted, the first year model of any car will have problems later models will not. The vents on the dash consistently pop up and the dealership can not seem to fix them properly, I also had a problem with the tacometer catching when the gauge would move up or down (jaguar did install a new "cluster" and everything seems to be working fine now). I have just started noticing that there is a weird noise coming from my front end whenever I am braking and go over an incline in the road (turning into parking lots, driveways, etc.) Does anyone have any thought as to what this might be? Again, it is in combination with braking and the front wheels being pushed up. I just had my brake pads replaced several thousand miles ago. I would say this is alot of maintenance being that my car only has 42k miles on it and I have pampered it. Any thoughts please let me know! Thanks!!

RE: '02 X-type
I have the same problem with the front end as you do as well as with the vents on my 2002 x-type. Of course the dealership has been unable to fix the vents the last 10 times the vehicle has been in shop. As for the front end, I was informed twice now that they couldn't duplicate the problem and like you I had the brakes and rotors replaced at 12,000 miles and my car has 34,000 mile on it. If you find out anything I would like to here what you find out.

You mean bad, as in BAD *** of a car....the x type has got to be the sweetest ride. You must be a disgruntled X-jag worker.....

I had the same problem with the defrost vents. I popped them out, took some adhesive velcro and cut it into thin strips (only used the soft side), peeled off the back and attached it around the left and right ends of the vents. This gave it a firm fit, and eliminated the rattle. Also, it took away the permanence of glue.
