A 04/05 2.0d X-Type against the germans?

Great forum! Been lurking around for some time, decided I'll finally join. I have quite an important question to ask as well. There are some money available at the moment and it's time to change the car I think

With my pocket I decided it will be the X-Type 2.0 diesel with his 130hp and low fuel consumption. My question is about the parts and the maintainance of this model compared to the mercedes c-class, bmw 3s and the audi a4's. Does it cost more to have one? I had a look at some websites and the parts aren't that more expensive. But these were UK sites and where I live you can hardly see a Jag on the streets, so it will probably be a bit more for me. As for the sites I saw, it looks pretty much the same to me. What would you say? Examples would be welcome. Thanks

Hey there donovan welcome to the site. Nice call on the diesel btw....Its a great car and offers a good combo of performance and fuel economy, although I'd recommend the 2.2 if you can get one. No real difference in fuel economy but more boost there when you need it.
Usually good network of dealers and Indies around....As for parts, jeeesh, everybody here tends to buy from Ebay, members / techs here on site that offer expertise and parts as well as the info here that will really help you.

Thanks for the info Jim. It depends really what I can find. Could as well go for 2.2D. Haven't decided yet. The thing that puts me off is the rust problem. Everywhere I read about Jags this is mentioned as an issue. Is it really such a big problem with the Jags?
