2004 x-type

Bought used tcm. It worked for all of 5min. Then all the lights came on the dash and gearbox fault message came on. Any ideas? Don't want to buy a new one. Trying to sell car. Are new ones even available any more. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like the TCM is a symptom, not the problem. What most likely happened is you put in the new TCM and it was able to overcome the problem for a short period of time. But, the problem caused the TCM to fail, resulting in where you are at the moment. Unfortunately, more troubleshooting is going to be required. This is where knowing what codes may be in the car will help narrow down what is causing you to destroy TCMs.
