Default 1 Problem and 2 ECU Codes with Recent X-Type Purchase

Hi All -

I've been searching and doing some googling but so far no luck. I purchased a 2002 X-Type about 3 weeks ago. Unfortunately on the maiden drive home it would overheat in stop and go traffic so that was a lot of fun =)

Figured out fairly easily that apparently the fan module failure is pretty common. Looks like my 02 had a harness adapter installed and uses the square type module. I've replaced the module but still have the same behavior (fans may come on or may not come on at all even with AC set to low and full blast) a quick scan with a code reader shows:

P0480 - Cooling fan 1 control circuit - what is this exactly?

So that's problem 1, problem two is an intermittent air bag light that appears on the instrument cluster. It will blink 4 times and then 2 times - seems to point towards front sensor. I located the front sensor under the center hood latch and reseated connector but same issue. The code reader has:

B2296 - Restraint system - impact sensor status - what is this exactly?

In the mean time since I can't reliably drive the vehicle I've been busy changing transmission fluid, alternator, brakes, etc but really want to drive this thing =)

Thanks all

Flashing seat belt light is normally passenger seat module has failed. That being said, it usually flashes 1 & then 6 three times then stays lit. So perhaps this flashing sequence is the driver's side.

Found this =

Fault:- Front Impact Sensor Mount/Communication Fault

Connectors: FC009, LF002,
LF050. Harnesses: Instrument
Panel. Engine. Impact sensor
mount fixing loose, Front
Impact Sensor

Also =

13 - Crash data memory full
16 - Pass seat weight sensor CAN fault

17 - Pass spatial sensor CAN fault
18 - Pass airbag deactivate lamp circuit fault
19 - Airbag circuit status fault – driver
21 - Airbag circuit status fault – pass
