2003 Jaguar X Type bar rubbing against shock
About a week ago I started hearing an odd creaking sound coming from the passenger side rear wheel area of my 2003 Jaguar X Type 2.5. After jacking it up, I noticed the bar in the rear of the vehicle (anti-roll bar i'm guessing) is rubbing against the shock. This bar moves back and forth with a little force and seems to favor the side nearest the shock that it is rubbing against. My question is...is this bar supposed to move freely and is it common for it to come into contact with the shock?
Simple answer is no, this is not supposed to happen. The problem is that where the sway bar mounts to the frame, there are two collars that seem to come loose and allow the sway bar to go back and forth. If you still have these collars, tighten them down. If not, start searching on ebay for some new ones!
Hope that helps.

Hutch, like was mentioned above, your sway bar has shifted to the passenger side of your car. Odds are, what you will need to do is to replace the poly bushings that mount the sway bar to the body of the car (the pieces in the center). You can get new bushings through Energy Suspensions. From there, you can recenter the sway bar and all should be good.
I had a very loud "squeaky boxspring" type sound start on mine this week. Took a look underneath the rear, and sure enough, the sway bar is shifted to the passenger side and rubbing the coil spring.
Guess it's time to replace those bushings!
