Default 2004 X-Type 2.5, AWD, Rev Limit @ 3000

Good morning,

Yesterday my check engine light came on. This morning, I noticed it started a little harder than normal, (8degrees F is the air temp), after I let it warm up a bit, I left for work. When I first left, if I got above 3k RPM's, the rev limiter would kick in, so for the remainder of the trip, (26 miles) I kept it below 3k RPM's until I got to work. I then tried to rev past 3k while driving, and it seemed fine again, however the check engine light is still on. I'm going to check the airfilter first, any thoughts?

Get your codes read and when you come up with lean bank 1 and 2 codes (p0171 and P0174), you can start looking for the vacuum leaks that show up in the cold weather. That's my bet.

I'll do that. Is this something I should do immediately? will it cause damage?
