Hi Dave . . . Probably more user friendly to provide hotlinks as Dell has done (thanks mate) but I have learned so much over the years, initially by accident, so I tend to point newcomers to do so manually . . .

In each forum, for these write-ups go to S-Type forum, there are numerous Stickies at top of thread list. A good review is to start with the FAQs, but the real goldmines are to be found in the Sticky "How To . . ." In there, scroll down through all the sections to Miscellaneous and that's where both are listed.

Notice however, the hundreds of other articles you have passed on the way there. Of course, the specifics and range of write-ups will vary between forums, but given how many systems from electrical components to mechanical parts that different models shared (of course, many are unique), it pays to really delve into other forums from the same era as yours. Do not be surprised if you pick up numerous gems along the way!

Both the Battery 101 and QCD write-ups are good examples of issues that are reasonably common to all models of Jaguars produced in the modern era, as previously listed.

Best wishes,

Ken

Thank you for your guidance and direction. This is a maze for sure! LOL We have been dealing with this on going problem for the last 7 or 8 years. It now seems to have gotten a lot worse thus more effort on our part to find a fix.
Thanks
Dave

I guess I should mention that my experience is based on living in an area where it can get a little chilly.

You may have read or heard mention of this area at start of this year: it was not only the coldest place on planet Earth, it was also colder here than on the planet Mars.

Just a guess, but annually subjecting an automotive battery to being turned into a near -50f (-45C) solid block of frozen acid and lead might have the tendency to reduce it's useful life.

(and it hasn't done my 'Battery Tender' brand fancy charger one bit of good, either - time for a new one)

I am going to review and implement the tests and suggestions in Cat-as-Trophy's info when it gets warm enuff to go back out and play with the kitty - today's Wind Chill Factor was -19.3F (-28.5C) - Thank you for all the info, C-a-T !!!

'Nuff said Bruce. Must not sidetrack thread but still awed by my daughter's trip many years ago, up through Whistler to spend winter in Calgary. Train got bogged in snow drift for 24 hours. She regaled us with story of family barbeque when -37F outside on patio where meat was cooking . . . with minimal supervision !!!

Sorta frightening if battery electrolyte actually freezes. I know that drink bottles forgotten in freezer here either burst or bulge if plastic. I am also aware of other locations so hot that car batteries make good use of in-built electric fans.

Best wishes,

Ken
