Default 2005 Jaguar X-Type Fuel Sending Unit Replacement

My 2005 Jaguar X Type Wagon needs the fuel sending unit replaced. Can this be done from an interior access, without dropping the gas tank ?

JacandJim, first off, welcome to the Forums. I think you will find this place very inviting and friendly. But, we do ask a small thing from you too. We like to get to know one another. As a result, we ask that you stop by the New Member Section and introduce yourself. This gives us a little bit about you and it gives you a chance to meet those that make this place what it is.

As for your question. Some members have cut a hole under the rear seat to access the fuel sending unit. The big thing is that unless you know where all the hoses are and whatnot, you would be cutting blindly. I would hate to see you cut a hose or even possibly the fuel tank. Then once the hole is cut, you have to figure out how to seal it back up. So, unfortunately, you are most likely looking at having to drop the fuel tank to get at what you need to. It isn't that bad of a job as most people can get the tank down in about 90 minutes as I recall. The hard part will be getting the exhaust to come apart. But, even that is fairly easy if you have done exhaust work in the past.
