2006 X-type 2.2D cutting out at speed
Hello to all, I'm a new joiner with a recently bought 2006 X-type estate 2.2D premium sport with 60K miles. It's a great car, however, it has recently cut out a number of times and my local mechanic has no answers. This has happened 6 times now, the first 4 was at around 35-40 mph just after changing into 4th gear, the 5th time was at 40-45mph just after changing into 5th gear (4pm today) and the latest whilst in the fast lane of a motorway at 65mph in 6th and cruise control (4.45pm today). Basically, the car loses all drive, the engine management and glow plug lights flash and the engine cuts out. I can immediately re-start the engine and rev it without any issue, however, as soon as I put into gear the engine cuts out with the same flashing lights. If I leave it for approximately 15mins I can drive away without any problems or indications of a fault. The first few times I called a recovery vehicle who towed the car to a mechanic, however, by the time the mecahnic was able to plug in for a fault code the screen was clear so we are no wiser as to why this happens.
Has anybody else had the same problem or is there any advise from you seasoned mechanics to help me overcome this issue?
Many thanks in advance, Gary

Hi Gary,
I am no mechanic but it sounds like the EGR valve is blocked, it would cut out after accelloration, you can take it out and clean it with carb cleaner or it could be that your fuel injectors are corrupt/leaking, surely your mechanic should have spotted what's up?
Hang in there! regards, Stu
