well i gave her a chance to start her own thread and post the pics but she didnt(also i have most the pics lol)
so here it is, baby jag's (my girlfriends)X-Type
put 225/30/20 Hankook V12 tires on 8.5" wide rims VCT Mobster
NO RUBBING!!!
she likes them and thats what matters... i think they look amazing!!!!
finding rims for this car was impossible, then try to find ones that are nice. we origionally wanted 19s but the 20s fit perfect and drive great...just watch the potholes lol

The rims I have are 8.5 ET42 I think.
Did you order the fender rolling kit or did you have a body shop do it.
I just dont want cracked paint. But it looks fairly easy to do though.

I used an Eastwood roller - as a bodyshop should. The paint is brittle on these cars (compared to German and Swedish cars) and heating it up didn't eliminate chipping completely. I painted the inner lips and haven't seen rust over the winter. Everything is rust treated from the factory prior to paint.

20's don't look right on the X-Type. not a fan. exexpat has invested A LOT of money in that car... disposable cash that most of us don't have. I think mine looks every bit as good as his does, tho. But hell, who am I? Do what you want, it's your car. I did what i wanted with mine, with a little more to come

Here's a better pic of the wheels and ride height

I do love the black and wheel selection of your car, but I'd put springs on it and smoke your side lights. Then it would be perfect.

I would never want anything larger than 18s on my 05 sport, the ride is firm enough already for my taste. The car handles exactly the same when I have my 16" winter set on and the car rides MUCH smoother. Granted the 16s are a much softer compound which helps the grip. But that extra 2 inches of sidewall means less trips to the dentist to have my fillings replaced.
As for those 20's, don't take her through a car wash or park too close to curbs. Those lips look like they're way past the tires rim protection rib. Kudos for getting what you want on your car without rubbing, but I'm in the group who thinks 20's look ridiculous on anything smaller than an Escalade.

I love oversized wheels and stretched tires to the point where I think say 255s on a 9" wheel just looks redneckish and overwidth. I have 235s on my 9.5" wheels and 225s on my 10" rear winter wheels (Porsche Ultralights with adapters) - that tends to upset most 50+ year-olds or guys named Skeeter with K5 Blazers and Ford Mustangs who work at Les Schwab.
Since the performance aspects on an X-Type are similar to an Escalade, it doesn't bug me that I optimized for appearance over performance.

I tried to say it without passing too much judgment.
Beauty is in the eye... and all that. But I was serious about the lips sticking out. My wife scuffed my right rear twice in a week, and they don't stick out much.
As for straight lines, I only got into it with our clubs camaraderie in mind. I haven't raced once this season and I don't miss it one bit. I'll go in the fall when the air is good and try to beat my old time. My wife used to roll her eyes everytime I came home with a trophy. That was until she found out there was prize money associated with them. She quickly figured out what the "big" ones were worth.

Anyway, I've had wheel lips poking out like this for about 15 years and don't have any blemishes on my curb record (knocking on wood).
