Default 3.0 and 2.5 Intake Manifold Gaskets the same?

I've been searching for a while with little luck...my X-type is past 80,000 miles now, and I'm wanting to go ahead and replace the prone to leaking intake gaskets while I change the spark plugs. The IMT O-rings have just been replaced, so I figure it's time to do the intake gasket shuffle.

I've been noticing on car part sites that Fel Pro offers a complete set of 3.0 liter lower intake gaskets ( http://www.partstrain.com/store/deta...location=Lower ) /upper intake gaskets ( http://www.partstrain.com/store/?PN=...universal:0%29 ) and they look awfully similar to the 2.5 liter V-6 gaskets that seem only to be sold individually ( http://www.partstrain.com/store/?PN=...universal:0%29 )

Now the entire set of Fel Pros for the 3.0 is about the same as a dang single runner for the 2.5...what's up with that?!?

If the intakes on both engines are the same size, that would rock if I could just pick up an entire set for the cost of one runner. But if the 3.0 has a larger port size, it'll be all for naught.

One would think that Fel-Pro would be all over making gaskets for both these engines, given their factory gasket's history, but I'm not for sure what to think...are these interchangeable???

Tore into the intake today...the uppers looked great, but since I'm this deep into it, I went ahead and ordered some new ones. The lower gaskets were what I assume to be the stockers. They were all an off-white yellow color, while the new Fel-Pros are the baby blue color. Upon removing the stockers, they sure seemed like they had flattened out, allowing a little air to be drawn in, before the car is warmed up to operating temperature. I'll get it all buttoned back up tomorrow, along with a fresh set of spark plugs, and let 'er rip!

Thank you so much for posting this question, for the answer, and also for confirming it after you finished the job!

I'll be ordering the same set myself right now, I have the air leak issue and my smoke test confirmed it was the gaskets. I hadn't thought of doing plugs at the same time but it definitley makes sense. So thanks as well for posting about the plugs!

Have to say, this site is saving me more money than I know what to spend it on... luckily my wife is always able to solve that that problem ;-)
