Default for the 3 people in the world that like x-types and stance...

Corrective measures were taken, now I have 30mm spacers in back and 25mm in front. It's beautiful... the spacing and car height. I love this sacrilegious, last-in-class car show-losing slow POS now.

Hey Hey,

Looks Super Clean Jeremy, Looks like the car is skating on the rims, awesomeness.
So Which set of rims do you like better?

How high can you put the car up off the ground with the airbag susp?

Just wondering about height because here in the Chi' some of the speed bumps, are more like speed humps if you know what I mean.

Keep up the sick work.

Absolutely gorgeous car. Looks great. Personally I think the x type is a very good looking car and you've only improved it!

Hey Jeremy, it looks pretty good to me. You must have super smooth roads over there though.

Just on a purely pesonal note, my preference is for the rubber to be outside the rim rather than inside.

I love to see what you guys do with your cars, keep at it.

Jeremy...... Wow bro, that looks perfect. Its safe to say that without question, you're sitting on top of the X Type pyramid. What are the final wheel/tire specs with these new spacers (for the people too lazy to search it out.. me included as I am posting from my phone)? I've had to create a new folder on my computer just for pictures of your car haha!

When are you going to submit it for a Stanceworks feature?? I think the car is more than ready..

SW photoshoot is actually tonight. Final specs are 20x9 on all corners, 225/30/20, native ET60 and 25mm spacing in front + 30mm spacing in back. Fenders are rolled flat and slightly pulled, but not as far as they could be (not affecting door gaps or anything overly cool).

Damn it. My secret was extremely safe here, but the responses on the Volvo forum were too much.

Yeah, ours is 5x108 so I'm going to assume he did use adaptors.

Motorsport Technologies is your adaptor source. They are hubcentric to the car (63.6mm) and the wheels (71.5mm), too. $300 opens you to a whole new realm of Porsche wheels and we've been doing this for 20 years in the VW/Audi world - plus spacers are TUeV-approved in Germany, so don't listen to grandpa when he says all spacers are bad - that was only true for the non-hubcentric garbage in the 1970's and 1980's - or anything marked "universal." With H&R, FK, Eibach or Motorsport-Tech and the right setup, you have nothing to worry about.

"What about all the force on wheel bearings, that must hurt them, right?" After 300k miles driving on spacers, I've never had premature bearing death (and the spacers on my Volvo were a staggering 40mm). Wives' tales and dumb misperceptions they are.

For what it's worth. On stance works I didn't see a single car that came close to your x. Not by a mile!!!!

I'm not going to lie, I have heard that wheel spacers are bad for your car for various reasons. Wheel bearings being one of them like you mentioned but I'm assuming thats why the sets you mentioned about cost so much more. You can find a set of adaptors on ebay for like $30 but a more reputable brand like H&R will run you about $200+.

You almost always get what you pay for. If you buy properly machined adapters that match your wheel's center bore and your car, you'll be fine. Buy some junk off eBay, and your wheels might come off. Funny how it's always the people who either had a bad experience with cheap crap or have never used them that say spacers are bad for your car.. At least that's what I've noticed in the different forums I go on.

Exex is right about the wheel spacers IMO too....the hubcentric versions anyway as he says. The older plain pieces of steel "universal" and the like can lead to all the problems you'd expect as the forces are taken by the wheel bolts, leading to wheel wobble and more problems.
I'm currently looking at a set of hubcentric spacers ( possibly 20mm ) for my A6 and maybe 25mm for the VW Passat.
They'll be around £120 for the set including the longer bolts but well worth it

I think there are more than three people who like the Xtype. Least I hope so, Mrs V12 doesnt care for it but I think it has the style and looks more like a Jag than the new ones do.
I may not own one and may never,,,but I like em.

Thats it, my 2 cents. JustV12
