Default ABS Module failure

All, just had my x type in garage to see why abs light is on.
It's not the reluctor rings as they were checked.

After it was plugged in it came up with ABS module failure.
Now, do I have to get a module with exact same part / serial number or will one from the same model an year suffice?

Appreciate any help.

Jon

let us know what you did to fix your problem. my x type had the abs light and brake light on as well for at least two years. I would drive it for a while and it wouldn't be on, then say if I stopped at a gas station and got gas. turned it back on the abs and brake light would come on.
I haven't seen the lights on for a while then when I changed my upper radiator hose, oil cooler hose, and changed my oil the lights decided to come back on. coincidence??who knows...
this time though I would have my car parked, lets just say over night and the two lights would come back on. the only way they would turn off is if I parked my car and turned it off.
basically everything is happening again, except in reverse order...go figure

I had the exact same problem. The code told me to replace the oil rectifier thingy on the ABS module. That didn't work. My local Jag guy replaced the ABS pump and it fixed it.
I got a rebuilt unit for around $300.
Good luck.

The abs module sits right next the the radiator hose, electronics does not like heat, the pcb in the module heats up and cools all the time causing flexing, this creates a dry joint on the on joint right near the radiator hose. You can carefully cut open the casing and resolder the joints, its a much cheaper repair method. You can tell if this is the cause if when you start your car the abs light is out and only comes on when the engine is warm.
