Accessory electrical question
I'm hard wiring a Sirius player into my car. My question is... what wire is live and what is ground? One is black and one is black and white. I want to just cut the wires and solder it in. If nobody knows, not really a problem, I'll dismantle the cigar lighter thingy and find out that way!
Thanks.
Thanks.

Flyrr, as a general rule, the black wire is your ground wire, the black wire with a white stripe is your power (12V) wire. When it comes to DC power, as a general rule, black is always the ground, any other wire color is your power. Where a black wire has a colored stripe on it, this will tend to refer to a switchable power source or a wire that depending on the situation, may have power or be a ground wire (ie, a lot of power window wiring is black with a colored stripe as the wiring is normally grounded and then when you operate a window, one of the 2 wires is switched from being grounded to having power applied. This allows multiple switches to operate the same window if properly wired.
