Default Advice on body repair

My son rear-ended an SUV at low speed, but did some damage to the front-end of my 2005 X-Type 3.0. The hood, bumper-cover, driver-side fender, radiator, and top radiator support are all damaged.

The car is in good shape otherwise with 125 K miles. Instead of scrapping it, I'd like to try to fix it up.

Looking on eBay I see all of the parts for sale separately, but am considering just buying a similar car off craigslist for $1000 or so, and swapping the parts that I need. I've seen a couple of 2003 X-Types in that range.

So my question is, if I buy a 2003 X-Type, will the body parts and radiator be compatible with my 2005 X-Type?

Thanks for any advice.

Hey, thanks for posting those videos, they're excellent. It makes me want to try handling my Jag repair myself. But in addition to the body work required, I need to replace the top radiator support (I think that's what it's called) which will need to be cut out and a new one welded in. And I have zero welding skills.

So I'm having a local body shop give me an estimate on handling this job. If it's reasonable I'm going to pick up a parts car next. I've seen a couple on craiglist that should do the trick.

Hi,
In my original question I asked if a 2003 X-Type is compatible with a 2005 X-Type. And the reply was Yes.

Now, I've finally found a car at the price I'm looking for and the right color. But it's a 2002. So I just want to double check. Are the body parts and radiator from a 2002 X-Type 2.5 compatible with my 2005 X-Type 3.0?

Thanks again for the help, these forums are great.

You should check out the frame around in front of the engine compartment, if they are bend, then get the insurance money with the money you spend to buy replacement parts to buy another car, chances are you might find a car with lower mileage with no accident, save you labor and times working on it.
