Default Aftermarket Intakes

Hi guys,

Long story short, I live in California and I need a C.A.R.B. approved intake. I've been advised to revert back to my stock intake but I really love the sound of the Spectre filter. I have the intake that exexpat and a few others have installed, it's just basically a 10.5" Spectre cone filter from AutoZone that replaces the stock airbox.

My question is: Does anyone know of any aftermarket filters that would sound similar, but are C.A.R.B. approved?

ez, the short of the story is: NO, no one makes a CARB approved intake for our cars. I found 1 seller than has an aftermarket intake for the car, but you would need to ask him if it is 50 state legal (ie, CARB legal). I would ask him point blank if it is "CARB legal". I can not garantee anything, but I can feel your pain in trying to get something better for the car.

Not seeing the problem he'ah...

Why can't you simply install the stock intake for the annual inspection and then switch to the aftermarket intake of your choice for the rest of the time? Seems like something that would be do'able on a yearly basis.

Or can you be pulled over and required to demonstrate compliance at a random time?

Why would intake affect emissions? I passed MOT & emissions test with flying colours when my car had both the AEM DryFlow (with Spectre piping) and the Adamesh sports mufflers.

Perhaps because California is unlike anywhere else in the world...
