Default Airbag/horn button fittment

Does everyones padded airbag/horn assy in the middle of the wheel fit like crap? Mine is so far off it almost looks like it was designed for a different car!

Mine is like that too. When I was looking at the car to buy it, it looked so out of place that I thought the air bag had went off and was replaced but I ran a carfax and it was clean. Mine looks like it's curling up at the edges.

Me too - the edges all seem to be raised higher than you would expect making it look like it has not been fitted correctly - but it has been.. it's just the way it is :-)

Howdy all,
The stepped edges you refer to are intensional by design.

This is 'tactile safety feature' so that when driving in the dark (night time) you can feel that stepped edge and so know exactly where the horn is. Any pressure applied around that stepped edge will sound the horn..... as the entire centre pad pivots

Some vehicles (Fords typically) may have textured areas (pressure points) you first need to find, feel and then press - in order to sound the horn ? this is not conducive to rapid application of the horn - if needed in an emergency !!
(horns are simply not there to be sounded when frustrated in traffic jams - eh?)

Hope this helps to clarify Jaguar's Safety Logic (Art of Performance)
